About our concrete contractor company in Alabaster

Curved concrete walkway leads to a stone-fronted home, bordered by landscaped garden beds and lawn.

Our story started with weekend jobs for neighbors

I got into concrete pouring walks and small pads for neighbors around Alabaster on weekends, and I learned the trade one job at a time. People kept calling, so in 2023 I turned it into a real business, Alabaster Concrete. Most of our calls come from homeowners who need a driveway, patio or slab, plus a few small business owners with bigger flatwork, which is what we call flat poured jobs like drives, walks and lots.

Concrete is hard to undo, so I care most about the work nobody sees after the pour. That means the subgrade, the packed ground the slab sits on, and the rebar, the steel that holds a slab together if it cracks. It also means timing, like not pouring in midday heat and cutting control joints, the grooves that decide where cracks go, before the slab picks its own spots. I'd rather tell you a job isn't worth doing than sell you one that won't hold up.

Our values, as you'll see them on your job

Here's what working with us looks like from your side of the job, from the first call to the day you drive on the new slab.

  • You deal with me the whole way

I come out to look at the job and write the estimate myself, and I run our crew on site when the work gets done. The person who sized up your driveway is the one making sure it gets built that way.

  • A straight answer, even a smaller one

If your patio only needs a few sections replaced and not the whole thing, I'll tell you that. You get what the job really needs, not the biggest job I can sell.

  • An estimate you can compare

I walk the job, look at the ground and write up what's included, so you can see where the money goes and hold it up against other bids. You can ask for one through our contact page.

  • The base gets the money first

When a budget gets tight, the base is the first thing people want to trim, because nobody sees it once the pour is done. We dig it out and pack it instead of raking dirt level, because a slab only stays put if the ground under it does.

Licenses, insurance and permits for your job

  1. Fully licensed and insured

Fully licensed and insured. The city of Alabaster also requires a city business license from any contractor doing service or installation work inside the city, so it's fair to ask whoever you hire about it.

  2. State certification for larger home jobs

In Alabama, home work for someone else that costs more than $10,000 falls under the state Home Builders Licensure Board, and the city won't issue permits for new homes, renovations or accessory structures without that certification unless you're acting as your own contractor. Which permit office handles your job depends on your address, so we check with that office before we set a date, and if a permit is needed we take care of the paperwork or walk you through it.
